about

Laura Oakley is a painter and designer whose work explores the fragile line between perception and truth, illusion and intimacy. With a background in design and a passion for layered storytelling, she creates paintings that are both visceral and symbolic — a visual dialogue between stillness and disruption.

Her work spans surreal desert landscapes, emotionally charged figures, and bold color contrasts that reflect internal and societal tensions. Often working in series, Laura blends traditional techniques with conceptual themes such as media manipulation, hidden identity, and personal mythology.

Whether through a glowing wave, a fragmented mask, or a lone cactus beneath a heavy sky, her paintings invite viewers to look beyond the surface — to feel what’s unspoken.

She is based in Erie/CO, working across oil, acrylic, and digital media. When not painting, she’s designing, adventuring with her kids, or chasing early morning light.
